You are the “OUT” man
New research suggests that the types of shoes women wear, specifically high-heels, pumps and sandals, may cause future hind-foot (heel and ankle) pain.
Recently I joined a Birthday Party of my best Friend. In the Party, everyone is well dressed. Especially my friend Nancy’s new high heeled shoes is the central attention of all the women during that night. Women are all crazy with it and praise for her Fashion sense. They keep talking talking about it and I asked a simple question to Nancy.
” Is that feels comfortable to wear such a high heel shoes everyday? why girls are so crazy with it especially nowadays the high heeled shoes seems like too high to wear.”
” You are a ‘OUT’ man.” the women look angry with my stupid question.
Such an embarrassing story to tell. But now I am going to tell you(Nancy) why girls are so crazy with all these high heeled shoes which is not easy to walk even harmful to people’s feet. Like Radha Chadha mention in her book ” The Cult of Luxury Brand”, she said the reason why Asian people is so crazy of Luxury brand is all these things with big Logos can represent the social status of the owner, it is a connection between the owner and the society. That means the Asian people spend all the salaries to buy a Louis Vuitton or Chanel handbag is too keep the relationship with other people and the society. High heeled shoes works also in this way. For example, in the party, all the girls wear high heel shoes, the one who does not wear it, she is obviously “out of the small society”. The shoes also shows the social status and the richness of you. moreover it is the central point or topic of the situation, so it can be a social networking tool for you.
Hans Hemmert makes an nice example for Nancy to see, he bringing the partygoers all to a common eye level (and eliminating the awkward postures of party talk between the tall and the short), I think it is clear to show why girls are crazy with high heeled shoes and how designer transform this “relationship” into their design works. 🙂
Berlin-based artist Hans Hemmert threw a party where guests wore shoe-extenders to make them all the same height of 2 meters (6 feet 7 inches).
Like the “Relation Design” I am doing research now, “Design” has been a shift from form via content to context, from “How does it look?”via “What does it mean to me?” to “How does it work between us?” In this case, I can say we are living in a society, which see design as a relationship. Besides this simple story I have still so many to share with you, if you are interested in my research, you should keep following my research blog and make an relationship between you and my blog. 🙂
Final question for you, Who is the “OUT” women, if she forget to wear her beautiful high heeled shoes? 🙂
